Early in the summer, I signed up to do the Prayer Service for the first time. During worship prep, while practicing, I got really nervous. I love to sing and I sing in choir but I had never really sung alone in front of people before. As we began the first song my voice was shaky and I sounded as nervous as I was. So, I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and said a little prayer asking for courage. After the first song I felt more confident and after the whole service I felt so great and proud of myself. In retrospect, I see how the Holy Spirit was working through me during that service, and I saw how the music that night had affected those there.
Sometimes in worships I become very emotional. Sometimes lyrics of songs hit me hard and set me thinking and I can’t help but cry. And then more lyrics are sung and they just fit so perfectly with what I’m feeling and sometimes I just can’t stop crying.
During that prayer worship, I saw how the lyrics of the songs were causing the campers to think. There were many young boys sitting in the front with their eyes filled with tears. God sent the Holy Spirit to me to help me sing confidently and the lyrics I sang touched the hearts of those campers- the same way my heart has been touched by many songs before. It was such a moving experience to be a part of.
